The much-awaited Nepal Festival, organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia, will bring a lively celebration of Nepalese culture to Sydney’s Darling Harbour on Saturday, 23 November, at Tumbalong Park. The event, running from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., is expected to attract over 30,000 attendees, including notable local and international dignitaries, to experience the richness of Nepalese art, cuisine, and heritage.

In partnership with Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, and the Nepal Tourism Board, the festival will highlight Nepalese tourism through interactive booths and exhibitions. Over 24 food stalls will serve authentic Nepalese dishes, while Nepalese flags will enhance the festive atmosphere across the venue.

Exploring Nepal’s Cultural Heritage
The Nepal House, one of the main attractions, will feature Nepal’s geography from the Terai plains to the Himalayas, showcasing traditional attire, handicrafts, and popular tourist destinations. A colorful parade starting at 10:30 a.m. will bring the streets of Sydney to life with traditional music, dance, and instruments celebrating Nepal’s diversity.

Star-Studded Performances
The festival will include performances by renowned Nepalese artists and local talents, alongside traditional dances that reflect Nepal’s linguistic and cultural heritage. Young Nepalese-Australians will play a key role, underlining the event’s mission to preserve Nepalese culture for future generations.

Commemorating Nepal-Australia Relations
As Nepal and Australia mark 70 years of diplomatic relations, the festival aims to strengthen ties between the two nations. Prominent dignitaries, including representatives from the Australian government, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Nepalese Embassy in Canberra, will address the gathering.

With NSW Premier Chris Minns as the chief guest, the festival offers a platform for the Nepalese-Australian community to connect, celebrate their heritage, and express their pride in their shared identity.
